We use IPL™ and laser to treat telangiectasias,
hemangiomas, and unsightly veins. We do not perform sclerotherapy.
Telangiectasias are the fine red, purple and sometimes blue vessels
that can be found on any part of the body. They can have a central
prominence with a “spider” appearance. They are usually a cosmetic
problem on the face, upper chest and legs.
Hemangiomas are small, bright red, slightly raised spots that
represent dilated capillaries that are within reach of our light
technology (superficial dermis).
TECHNOLOGIES USED
VascuLight™ Elite IPL™: Intense pulsed light source 560-1200 nm
wavelengths.
VascuLight™ Elite DL: Nd:YAG laser( Neodymium:
yttrium-aluminum-garnet) 1064 wavelength.
LightSheer™: Diode laser 800nm wavelength.

HOW IT WORKS
Light energy is absorbed by hemoglobin within the blood vessel.
This heat energy coagulates the vessel and damages the vessel wall
resulting in destruction of the vessel.
The remnants of the destroyed vessel are then absorbed by normal
physiologic processes.
TYPES OF VESSELS
IPL™ is very useful for smaller telangiectasias, and hemangiomas.
LightSheer™ is useful for blue or purple leg vessels 0.4mm to 1mm
in diameter.
Nd:YAG is useful for larger (up to 5mm) and deeper leg veins .
Lower energies allow for treatment of facial veins as well.
SKIN TYPES
IPL™: Skin Types I-V.
Nd:YAG laser: Skin Types I-V.
LightSheer™: Skin Types I-VI.
IPL™ should not be used on tanned skin (there is an increased risk
of blistering). Our lasers can be used on tanned skin but we
recommend treatment after the tan has faded (about 3 weeks).
BODY AREAS
Almost any area of the body can be treated. We do not use laser or
light within the orbits or on mucus membranes.
