Acne is a common skin condition that affects adolescents and adults. A bacterium called Proprionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is thought to colonize the pilosebaceous duct and contribute to the inflammation seen in the common form of acne called moderate inflammatory acne.
Technology Used -
ClearLight™: A device generating blue/violet light, 405nm to 420nm wavelengths.
For complete equipment specifications, please visit www.lumenis.com
How It Works
Clearlight™ generates blue/ violet light (wavelength 405-420 nm) that interacts with substances called porphyrins that are produced by P. acnes. This interaction then leads to the destruction of the bacteria.
Initial treatment consists of 8 treatments. Since acne is an ongoing process, maintenance treatments will likely be required.
There are no known side effects.
There is no downtime.
There is no use of antibiotics.
Types Of Acne
ClearLight™ is used to treat moderate inflammatory acne. We urge all prospective patients to take advantage of our free consultation before committing to treatment.
Skin Types
ClearLight™ is safe for all skin types I-VI.
Body Areas
ClearLight™ can be used on any area of the body where there is acne. Typically, this is the face, upper back and upper chest.

Before - APC technology uses
high-intensity, 405-420nm wavelength light that permeates the
tissue to reach the P. acnes target safely and effectively. |
| |
|
|
 |
|
During - This unique spectrum of
high-intensity light triggers the proliferation of endogenic
porphyrins, which attack and destroy P. acnes bacteria within the
skin. |
| |
|
|
 |
|
After -
ClearLight™ creates a destruction rate that surpasses the normal proliferation rate of the P. acnes bacteria, assuring a significant decrease in P. acnes bacteria. |
