Many procedures result in temporary hair loss. The FDA makes a distinction between temporary hair loss and permanent hair reduction.

Please click on the FDA link for a discussion: http://www.FDA.gov/cdrh/consumer/laserfacts.html

We prefer using the FDA definitions and we strive for permanent hair reduction. Optimally, any hair re-growth should be less dense, finer, and lighter.

  • LightSheer™: 800nm diode laser. This is our preferred method.

  • Vasculight™ EPI : Intense Pulsed Light
  • or IPL™

  • Light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and converted to heat.

  • This heat damages the cells that produce the hair resulting in hair reduction.

  • Due to the nature of hair growth, multiple treatment sessions are usually required (typically 4-8).

  • Dark, coarse hair is more effectively treated with laser and light.

  • Blonde, red, and finer hair is more difficult to treat with laser and light

  • Grey and white hair cannot be treated effectively with laser or light.

  • Our equipment allows for the treatment of all skin types I – VI.

  • We are able to treat tanned skin, but we prefer that patients avoid tanning immediately before or after treatments.

  • Almost any area of the body can be treated

  • We do not use laser within the orbit or the ear canal.
